Edinburgh Grandeur @ Stockbridge

Ref: 31875

Fantastic location for a unique and relaxing stay. A great base to explore Edinburgh.

Sleeps 2 1 Bedrooms 1 Bathrooms

This apartment has the wow factor! Set in a very handsome Georgian Terrace on the northern edge of Edinburgh’s New Town, it is grand in scale and has been described by a previous guest as a 'mini stately home'. Less than a mile from the north of the City Centre; a great choice for guests who can enjoy delightful Stockbridge, with its excellent shopping including interesting shops, bars and restaurants, and still be close the city centre.

One clean and bright double bedroom with view of back garden.

The sitting room in this apartment is gorgeous, spacious and light with two huge windows looking out on to Carlton Street. It features seating and dining for four and is a room to spend time in! The relaxing colour theme and mix of antique and modern furniture work very well and a glistening chandelier tops adds glamour.

The newly renovated bathroom has a large walk in shower and is located off the hallway as are all the rooms in the apartment. The large, quiet bedroom has a double bed and overlooks the back of the property and neighbours pretty gardens. The bright modern kitchen is fully fitted, with all mod cons and has a breakfast bar for two.

-Home Truths-
The beautiful fireplace within this property is decorative only. It is not for guest use for both guest and property safety.

Georgian terraced property, in a superb location! Near the stunning Water of Leith, a leafy sanctuary for great walks. See the unique Saint Bernard's Well, visit the famous Dean Village or immerse yourself in the vibrant Stockbridge. Quirky cafes, beautiful local shops and great market.

-Booking Requirements-
We require names and ages of all guests, as well as addresses and ID. We will require the lead guest to sign copy of our terms and conditions. We reserve the right to vet any booking. This apartment is not suitable for stag parties, hen parties or young single sex groups or parties. One member of the booking party must be over 25 years. There is a strict no-smoking policy. A damage deposit of £250 is required one week before arrival and will be fully refunded pending no damages one week after your departure.

The location gives guests the chance to visit the nearby Royal Botanic Gardens, and InverLeith Park. Stockbridge is a joy to explore and there are pleasant walks along the nearby Water of Leith. The main business districts of Edinburgh are within walking distance from the apartment. Regular bus services run close by to the City Centre and many other areas of Edinburgh.

As a short background for history buffs, the property was designed by James Milne in 1824 as a 2-storey and basement, 3-bay townhouse and now Carlton Street is hailed as one of the most beautiful streets in Edinburgh.

Stockbridge is one of those worlds within a larger world, just down from the hub of city centre Edinburgh. Stockbridge is a hidden store of delightful treasures for the vintage shopper. Also, Stockbridge is the host for some of the best earning charity shops in the UK. Nearby there are also fantastic eateries and cafes. A wonderful little Italian themed café, Sprio Deli, is the place to go for that afternoon snack and your revitalising coffee burst. Sprio isn’t just an Italian-themed café, it’s one which reflects the sights and smells of the country, from the cool, brightly-designed furniture to the action-packed fumetti adorning the walls and a range of imported Italian sweets, magazines and dry goods.

An honourable mention this time goes to the Stockbridge Restaurant, a family-run restaurant that amazes in its care for detail, its mouth-wateringly inventive menu and a space, where you can enjoy a relaxed, unpretentious dining experience. You can tell a lot of thought and skill is going into the cooking of Head Chef Jason, and his partner Jane is putting a lot of care into the running of this wonderful gem.

An alternative for your choice of dinner could very well be the Café Fish, with its simple philosophy of 100% fresh produce that’s simply cooked, menus in line with what the markets were selling on any particular day, complemented with wines matched to the menu structure, and sensibly priced! With the best seafood in the world often found off the coasts of Scotland, it is no wonder that there is an abundance of seafood restaurants.

For more down-to-earth dining experience, Cambridge Bar would be the one to aim for; a hearty, good bar centrally located but nestled away from all the shoppers on George/Princes Streets.

Edinburgh Grandeur @ Stockbridge

I’d just like to say a big thank you to all the team at The Edinburgh Address for all your friendly help and advice, whilst I’ve been here – and the icing on the cake was definitely having a pied-a-terre in Stockbridge! What a fab place – everything on your doorstep or a short stroll up the hill. I have to confess, I found the stroll down the hill, each evening after work, a little easier than the climb up – but that might have something to do with the trams stopping at Princes St / Hanover St and my popping into Brambles “on the way home” for a chat and a giggle, before running the gauntlet of fine restaurants between there and my front-door! Whilst I shall miss all of it, very much – I look forward to my waistline returning to something less expansive! When it comes to good food and wine (or cocktails!), I have no willpower – and I have found much good food, drink and friendly banter, here!

Very good value. The right quality, proportion and sense of space with ample amenities and just the right facilities. From the moment we entered it felt like a home, the Georgian architecture, street level location, plus being in the heart of Stockbridge made it such a memorable and unique experience for both of us.
[The Edinburgh Address gave] a most professional and prompt service which gave a huge amount of confidence and piece of mind throughout. We left with the aspiration to buy a property in Stockbridge and for The Edinburgh Address team to manage it for us.
