Whether you’re looking to satisfy a serious shopping craving or simply pick up a few souvenirs, Edinburgh has some fantastic shopping spots. We’ve included some of our favourite, local secret streets, as well as well-known shopping hot spots.
If you’re looking for well-known brands, Princes Street is the best bet. Here, you’ll find household brands like Apple, H&M, New Look and Gap. As the main shopping street in Edinburgh, there’s also a Waterstones, Boots, and Sports Direct. With so much to offer, it’s the go-to for anyone wanting to restock their wardrobe with the latest threads.
Another popular choice, George Street also ranks as one of the best places to shop in Edinburgh. A short walk from Princes Street, George Street has lots of good places for lunch as well as shops like Fat Face, Lululemon and Rox.
A trip to Edinburgh would be incomplete without a few take home souvenirs. Luckily, the Royal Mile is packed with lots of shops selling everything from tartans to whisky and everything in-between. Pick up a stuffed Highland Cow, Nessie or an ‘I Love Scotland’ t-shirt for your friends and family back home.
As an added bonus, you can check out some of Edinburgh’s best sights as you make your way between souvenir shops. And, maybe even hear the atmospheric bagpipes in the air.
Away from the main tourist district, you’ll find the idyllic neighbourhood of Stockbridge. Stockbridge is popular with locals as it’s the main street is packed with thrift stores selling designer clothes.
Locals spend their weekends browsing the charity shops, snagging a good deal on new clothes or dining in the traditional pubs. There’s also a farmers market here on the weekends so you can pick up some local produce.
If you’re looking for a more traditional shopping mall, head to Ocean Terminal. With three storeys of shops, you’ll find plenty to keep you occupied.
Grab lunch in the food court, browse stores like H&M and Debenhams or turn it into a sightseeing adventure by stopping off at the Royal Yacht Britannia. Afterward, end your day with a movie at the Vue.
