Edinburgh Flats is a successful holiday letting business established in 2007. In Autumn 2015, Registered Conveyancing Paralegal, mum of two, Karen Blair decided to take on a new challenge and add an another string to her bow by buying Edinburgh Flats.

Karen has accumulated 28 years experience working within the Property Industry. Firstly as a part time negotiator for Barnard Marcus in Battersea London, later working for Woolwich Property Services in their busy Clapham Common and Battersea Offices. After taking time out of the workplace to bring up her two children Karen trained and graduated from Strathclyde University as a Residential Conveyancing Paralegal in 2004 and worked as Conveyancing Paralegal and Property Manager for Doughty’s Solicitors in Ayton and Eyemouth, successfully becoming a Law Society of Scotland Registered Paralegal in 2011. In 2012 Karen changed direction to work within the high pressured, fast paced Property Letting Industry, where she managed large portfolios of professional long-term rentals as Senior Property Manager, creating excellent connections in and around Edinburgh. Aside from working full-time and raising her two sons Hamish and Calum,  Karen has also managed to squeeze in time to manage her own holiday let properties over the last several years and successfully complete property development projects, which is something she has gained great experience and pleasure from. Having this wealth of experience, commitment, understanding, passion and ‘huge’ amounts of knowledge in the property world, not to mention Edinburgh itself, Karen’s decision to take on this new venture could only be a success.

Working alongside Karen as Office Manager is Joni Oxendale. Karen and Joni worked side by side for 3 years within the Property Letting Industry prior to Edinburgh Flats, which is where it all began for Joni in the property field. Joni gained invaluable experience working with Karen as a Lease Manager, dealing with tenants and landlords from start to finish. Needless to say, they were a sharp team with the experience to boot.  Prior to this Joni spent her time traveling, and never had the urge to settle, however having spent a brief spell living in Edinburgh in her early 20’s the city has always been pulling her back. Joni has a very high standard of customer care, dedication and work ethic, and has a real passion for property. Joni has worked for various highly regarded companies including Visit Scotland and the Assembly Rooms for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival giving Joni a wealth of knowledge within the Tourism sector. Although not originally from Edinburgh Joni’s love of the city and its friendly people shows. Having been brought up in Scottish Highlands Joni’s knowledge exceeds the city so if you are thinking of extending your stay in Scotland and require any advice or travel tips please do let her know!
