As you will see, we enjoy exploring Edinburgh on foot, using public transport (buses and trains) when necessary.

Edinburgh’s Christmas market in the Gardens of Princes Street and the neighbouring area. Mid-November to 6 January every year. 250 m west from Waverley station. 4 minutes’ walk.

Pop-up arts festival at various venues across the Old Town and city centre. The Fringe runs parallel to the Edinburgh Festival, annually throughout August.

Perhaps the highlight of the annual Edinburgh festival, a spectacular show, including kilted marching pipe bands, held on the castle esplanade in August. Ticket office on Cockburn Street is 150m southwest from Waverley station. 4 minutes’ walk.
