Reviews for 2 Bedroom Apartment in Old Town (Ref.12)

Edinburgh Flats Partnership

Good location 3

The flat was in an excellent location. It was big enough for our needs and decorated to a decent standard. We did not like the saniflow toilet in the bathroom which was very noisy. Most of all however the shower was appalling, it had no pressure whatsoever and would be a reason that I would not rent this flat again. I would still be interested in renting from the company again.

Convenient for getting around 4

The location of the flat was great, supermarket and restaurants were very close, and it only took a few minutes to get into the Old Town. Our grandson loved being able to see the castle. It was a cosy flat and having games and T.V. made it ideal for a family.

Nice Flat - Shame about the noise 3

As always the flat was clean and tidy but there were no tea towels so we went out and bought some, the bathroom smelt of damp and the flickering light on entry! The noise from the neighbours ranged from loud thumping music with a heavy base note to screaming and door banging. Despite this we enjoyed Edinburgh - as we always do - the flat is ideally placed for walking everywhere and the transport system is good (we didn't have a car ). I would not choose to stay in this flat again on trips to Edinburgh in the future.

Excelent location 4

The apartment is in a great location, easy to go walking to most of the places and confortable for 4 people (adults). We were 9 days and everything was fine. The best things: location, kitchen and shower. Not good: no elevator, lights on the stairs not always on, owner charged extra money for cleaning after the stay using the pre-deposit money.

Good central flat 4

The flat was perfectly situated for the Tattoo and the Fringe - we walked everywhere. Wonderful view of the Castle from the back. Very clean. Compact but comfortable for five adults (including the one on the sofa bed - me). Letting company easy and pleasant to deal with. Thank you.

Good location for the city of Edinburgh 4

Don't be deceived by the outside appearance of 9 Grindlay Street or the dark worn stone steps as you walk up to the third floor flat 6. Inside the flat is attractively decorated and the whole flat is very comfortable. The views of the back of the castle from the two bedrooms are amazing. We enjoyed looking at the castle fireworks display at 10.30pm during the Tattoo. It's handy having an extra toilet in the flat as well as the bathroom. We had a lovely holiday and I would stay there again without hesitation.

Fantastic atmosphere 5

A fantastic atmosphere in this historic Victorian building in the centre of Edinburgh. Walking distance to everything that's worth seeing, doing eating and buying in this fantastic charming old capital.

Grassmarket area 4

This flat is in a great location, making a stay in Edinburgh eminently walkable. The flat's amenieties are perfectly fine: clean and functional. It presents great value for money and is an excellent base to explore the city. And the views to the Castle are fantastic!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The flat was very central and comfortable, the beds very good. From the flat we could walk to many interesting places in Edinburgh, even with young children. I will recommend the flat without hesitation.

Great location. 4

Perfect sized flat in a great location. Needs a bit of work, but if you're looking for a good basic flat with all the comforts of home, then this place is perfect. The renters were very friendly and helpful as well.

Good location, poor bathroom 3

Location of flat was perfect, beds very comfortable. But bathroom door didn't close properly, shower had erratic on/off button, needs replacing. Smell of damp in loo and bathroom made atmosphere rather depressing. Needs redecoration and damp attended to.

Perfect location for the Fringe 5

Ideal for quiet central stay within walking distance of all Fringe events. Flat was clean and presentable. A few minor DIY jobs need doing like bathroom plug, bedroom door latch. Landing lights for block don't come on until well after dark. All minor and didn't spoil our fantastic stay. As a bonus you get a perfect view from the bedroom windows of the Castle and the Tattoo fireworks for free!

Good location in Old Town 3

This apartment has a good location in Old Town of Edinburgh, with a short walk to the Castle and Grassmarket. There are also two Sainsbury's Local foodstores very nearby. The apartment itself lies in the third floor of an old townhouse, which is only partly renovated. The entrance from the street and the staircase leading to the apartment are a bit scary and untidy. There is a very small kitchen in the apartment and the floors are squeaking loudly. But living and sleeping there is easy, peaceful and quiet, although not very luxury.

Perfect location, castle view 4

We booked the flat at very short notice. Edinburgh flats made everything so simple for us - they were lovely. John met us and gave us tips on the area. The flat was perfectly situated, very quiet, but very central (guessed 5 mins walk to the castle - view from window. Theaters, restaurants, "real" shops, etc. right there). The friendly owner of the small shop nextdoor (lovely sandwiches & also runs taxis) is very helpful, too. The view of the castle from the bedrooms has imprinted itself on my brain. We will certainly stay in Edinburgh again!

great location: comfortable 4

Perfect location for seeing all that Ediinburgh has to offer. The flat is located on a quiet side street in the heart of everything - just a 5 minute walk to Grassmarket, etc. We were excited to discover two bathrooms and a clothes washer. Despite previous review, we had no problem with the Internet and were connected the whole time. Highly recommend for up to four people looking for a comfortable, well located flat in Edinburgh.

Perfect central Location 4

We really enjoyed the flat during our 8-day stay. The flat seemed to present a level of quality. However, after we bought in our food to cook a meal, we discovered the pots and pans were useless, loose handles, rusty and flakey teflon. That was a disappointment because it contradicted the standard of the flat, the hoover was not working good and it gave off a terrible smell, plus there was no extended tube to comfortably hoover, we suspected the carpet might be giving off a smell throughout the flat? If you are renting out a flat these are things you should invest in, e.g. quality. There was supposed to be wifi but we could not connect, we tried 50 times to type in the code that's written in the book, it never ever connected us with Internet. But apart from all that, with all these things corrected, we would stay there again, because it is a really nice flat in a great location. the beds were perfect, the view of the castle from each bedroom window is a splendid site. The bathroom and toilet was perfect. And the welcome from John and Gill with tea and biscuits was much appreciated. Regards Frank Ogilvie Based in Amsterdam
