Just wanted to let you know about a lovely lunch that I had at the Hotel Du Vin-11 Bristo Place, Edinburgh EH1 1EZ. Located in the Edinburgh’s Old Town (Bristo Place), and really can only be seen by its signage on the road. I entered via the courtyard, into the hotel entrance. I didn’t know what to expect, as all I could see was the courtyard, which was not in use, as it was still cold. I know it’s May, and it should be a bit warmer, where sitting outside would be a desireable activity, however, that is another story.
The inside decor is charming, and very in keeping with the Old Town atmosphere. Along with the restaurant there is a bar located on the first floor. They also have a whisky tasting room (by prior arrangement), along with small nooks and crannies where you can sit with a wee dram, or a glass of wine. Nice place to relax after visiting the sites in Edinburgh.
We ate in the restaurant. We were there for lunch, but the evening menu is the same. The menu has a variety of food, a French charm, with a twist of Scottish cuisine. I ordered the cod, and it was delicious. My friend also ordered the cod, and he had room for the Creme Brulee dessert. I really enjoyed my meal and the atmosphere inside the restaurant. There is nothing that I could fault. It would be perfect for a night out as a couple or with a group of friends. It just has a really nice and welcoming atmoshpere. And of course, if the weather is nice, the outside courtyard, would be perfect. I will definitely be back.
