Celebrate the Royal Wedding in Edinburgh
As we all know Prince William and Kate Middleton are getting married on April 29, 2011 at Westminster Abbey. It is the event of the year and one of the most significant events in London since the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana in 1981.
1,900 guests are expected to arrive between 8 and 10am at Westminster Abbey including Governors-general and prime ministers of realm countries, the Diplomatic Corps and other distinguished guests. Prince William and his best man Prince Harry are expected to arrive at 10.15am followed by the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.
The ceremony will start at 11am and will be extensively covered on BBC1, ITV, Channel 5, Sky News and CNN. Analysts predict that more than one billion people will watch the royal wedding on television!

If you don’t want to watch the wedding ceremony alone, head to Edinburgh’s Festival Square where a large screen will be showing Prince William and Kate Middleton tie the knot live.

The large screen in Edinburgh’s Festival Square is just in front of the five-star Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa which is offering a Royal Afternoon Tea with fine tea, freshly backed scones, sandwiches and treats.
The Ghillie Du
Near the Sheraton, on Shandwick Place, The Ghillie Du is holding a Royal Wedding Street party with live coverage of the wedding. The party will start at 10am and will go on well after 8pm when live music starts.
Royal Yatch Britannia
By The Shore in Leith, the Royal Yatch Britannia is offering a Royal Wedding Afternoon Tea in the Royal Deck Tea Room. The package includes admission for the Britannia tour, a glass of Champagne, a choice of fine teas, sandwiches, cakes and scones.
BW Edinburgh Capital Hotel
BW Edinburgh Capital Hotel is holding a Royal Wedding Tea Party. It will start at 10.30am and will include a toast with a glass of bubbly and a traditional British tea menu. The wedding ceremony will be shown on a large screen.
Hotel du Vin Edinburgh
Hotel du Vin Edinburgh will also hold a Royal Garden Party to celebrate the Royal Wedding with a big indoor screen for you to watch the wedding live.
Harvey Nichols
After the ceremony, between 3pm and 5.30pm, head to Forth Floor of Harvey Nichols to enjoy an afternoon tea that includes a free limited edition Harvey Nichols Royal Wedding mug to take home.
Celebrate! Even if you are not very interested in the wedding of the year, it will be a very good oportunity to be out and to enjoy what this beautiful city has to offer.
