Edinburgh Castle
Edinburgh Castle
The most famous tourist attraction in Scotland is Edinburgh Castle. The Castle is perched high above the Royal Mile, and can be seen from many areas around the city.
The castle was used by the Royal family during the middle ages, but it soon became more useful for its military importance, where it became a military prison. The castle has both Military memorabilia as well as Royal Residence to view.
The castle is home to the Crown Jewels and The Stone Of Destiny, which was only returned to Scotland in 1996. Try not to miss the ‘One O’Clock’ gun which is (surprisingly) fired at One O’clock, (daily except for Sunday).
Daily guided tours are available, where the guides will fill you with interesting information about the history of the castle. Audio tours of the castle are available at the entrance and are available in French, German, Japanese, Spanish and Dutch.
