Edinburgh is a beautiful city with a wealth of things to do and see, from taking in the historical sights of the Old Town, to spending a day at Cramond Beach, we truly are spoilt for choice (although we may be slightly biased). A lesser known part of Edinburgh is The Arches, located just off East Market Street, only two minutes from Waverley Station and The Royal Mile.
The Arches are part of the New Waverley development and are made up of a row of 19 renovated Victorian arches which now host an eclectic mix of shops, cafes, restaurants and curiosities. They are C-Listed and date all the way back to 1875 but up until 2016 were boarded up and used for storage.
Here’s a few of our favourite spots that you need to check out the next time you visit Edinburgh:
Baba Budan
Baba Budan has been brewing and baking since 2016 and wow, do they do a good job. Best known for their delicious artisan coffee and mind-blowing doughnuts, this coffee shop come weekend brunch spot is a definite must-visit.
The Pop-up GeeksCocktail Bar
The Pop-up Geeks is a cocktail bar with a unique difference. The small, independent team uses their passion for all things ‘geek’ to create unique and immersive drinking experiences inspired by some of their favourite works of entertainment. Think a magical night at Hogwarts, a ‘Stranger Things’ evening, and something completely different, a new menu inspired by the wacky world of Monty Python.

It’s not all food and drink at The Arches.
